(March 18, 2009) Immunoassay testing Video Blog post from Tosoh Bioscience features David Plaut and Bill McLellan discussing PTH on the AIA-360 Automated Immunoassay Analyzer at last year’s AACC in Washington, DC.
The intended use of the iPTH is for quantitative measurement of the levels of parathyroid hormone in human serum and EDTA plasma. Impressive features include CVs of < 4%, assay range from 1 to 2200, sensitivity of 1.0 pg/ml, and 90 day calibration stability. The assay also boasts a 10-minute incubation time and less than 30 minutes total assay time, which includes time to spin the specimen to collect plasma. Tosoh’s Intact PTH assay was designed using Allegro as the reference method which is aligned to the NKF/K-DOQI guidelines.
The AIA-360 can be used as a dedicated system for Intact PTH. The analyzer’s extremely compact size (16w x 16d x 21h) makes it an excellent fit for hospitals, nephrologists and dialysis clinics. With a throughput of 36 tests per hour, the AIA-360 generates its first result in approximately 20 minutes. The cost effective system utilizes the same 10-minute incubation, short time (ST) reagents as Tosoh’s AIA-600 II and AIA-1800. With interchangeable reagents on all Tosoh systems, inventory management is easy and problem free. Transition from one system to another is seamless, ensuring consistent results and efficient, economical operation for the laboratory.
